Frequently Asked Questions About Permanent Hair Removal
-
Is electrolysis right for me?
If you have unwanted hair, electrolysis is right for you. It can be performed on any part of the body except inside the nostrils and ear canals. It doesn’t rely on pigment to be effective so even white hair can be removed permanently.
-
What can I expect?
Treatment involves inserting a fine probe into the hair follicle and delivering a current that destroys the root. The hair is then removed with tweezers. Some describe the treatment as feeling like a small pinch.
-
Are there any side effects?
After treatment the skin may be red and tender but this usually goes away after an hour or two. Scabbing may occur but will heal normally if left alone. Scarring is rare but can be caused by mistreatment of the skin after treatment.
-
Is electrolysis safe?
Electrolysis is safe and effective on all hair and skin types. It was invented in 1875 as a method of permanent hair removal and today is the only method approved by the FDA.
-
Can I get electrolysis done if I have tattoos?
Yes. It is safe for you and your tattoo. The treatment is performed deep enough in the skin that it does not ruin the ink from the tattoo. The skin must be fully healed before electrolysis can begin.

Does Total Body Electrolysis use all modalities?
Yes. In order to treat the hair effectively, different methods and modalities will be used based on each unique client, whether it be galvanic, thermolysis, or the blend.
